Looking for an inexpensive way to get a new back window/canvas zip in for my 1984 mustang convertible. My glass shattered putting the top down. White in color. Any help would be appreciated.....
Thanks

Do you what caused it to shatter? Getting ready to put on a new top and would like to avoid doing something that could break the back window. Thanks.

Was your top binding or having troubles going from the up to stowed position? If the top was hanging up, say you have a hinge or something sticking or binding, it could twist around enough to shatter the glass. Go through the motions with it manually, if possible and look for anything that doesn't seem to be going smoothly.

It goes up and down smooth. Just wanted to know what to look for before I put the new top on. Thanks.

texasmustang.com has them as well. 69.95 +S&H for the "plastic window" and $134.95 for the glass ones.
Had a hella windstorm today. 80MPH gust. My mustang was not turned into the wind. So the car in effect went 80mph in reverse. Aerodynamically it played havoc on the rear glass. The adhesive is separating from the curtain and glass. 8O
I know the plastic is NOT resto correct, but #1 it's cheaper, #2 I don't have tinted windows. # 3 it's lighter.
Anybody put one of these in???? Looks like it zips at the top. Screws in by the trunk.

Pain in the tail to install. Finally did it after 9 months. Took me about 5 hours. Tons of disasembly and assembly. Not for the faint at heart either. Just like the top I highly recomend having a top shop do this.

Just changing the window is easy, just come screws some bolts and the zippper, the whole Top is a big pain and will take you about 5-8 hours. There is a place on line, i think it's topsonline.com but i can't remember, they have the tinted plastic for like 90 bucks

I had to loosen the top as the zipper was a different set up and manufacturer than what was on there originally. Old one was Carlite glass with EZ Auto tops on the fabric. New window was by Electron. Had I been able to use the old zipper top, I would have had an easy install. I had to loosen the top to have access to the last top support bar to staple the top part of the zipper assembly.
John's Mustang $59.99 + shipping.. $73.95 total shipped 2 day air as we had some bad rain moving in. Got too tired of the car being under a tarp.
