I have an 82 gt and the drivers side door has some rust and dent problems, there is a rust spot on the door and it is in the middle of a pretty big dent.(the hinges were messed up for god only knows how long so the guy who had it before me would lean on it to close it) I can see through a small hole right in the center. What year/body styles can i use a door from?

Well if you have a T-Top or Convertible car you have to get a door off of a T-Top or convertible. If you have a hard top with out T-tops you have to get a door from the same. Any of the doors from 1979-1993 will bolt up but remember 1979-1982 have the door handel on the floor and that the moldings on the doors change every few years. You could put the latermodle doors on but you also have to get one that (to make it easy) has power windows if your car does or manual windows if your car has manual windows.

Actually, 80-86 if you want it to look right and 80-84 if you don't want to deal with the trim not matching. They put the door handles in the "normal" spot starting in 1980. In 1987, they had this big thick trim on the ledge next to the bottom of the window. It'll stick out like a sore thumb on an early car, and if you take it off, well, there's big honkin' rivet heads sticking out. Plus the mirror styles are different.

Problem is, if you've got rust, most of the cars around that area in that age group have it just as bad. :(

The rust isn't my real problem with the door, if i had to fix that i could. I am sure you are all familiar with when hinge pins in the door go bad and you have to lift up to close the door. That is what happened here. For years the guy would lift it and place it on the latch then put his ass up against it and lean hard to close it. So now that spot of the door is very weak. I might just do a hick repair job and pop it out and stiffen it from inside. I don't want it to come to that, but i think it would look better than having a door from the wrong year on it. besides 80-84 doors(manual windows) are not all that easy to find these days... altough i just though of something.... I might know a guy....
