Has anyone tried to put a 93 cobra style bumper on a pre-87 car,Mustang or Capri?I've always felt our cars got shorted out back...yeah we got the front air dam,but what about the rear?I want to keep the pipes, but still dress it up a bit.Anyone tried this?

unless you use early Capri or Mustang tail lights, I don't think it will work. Personally, I like the lines of the original bumper and tali lights, but hey, its your car...........just as long as it remains a Capri

The trim around the middle of the car will be badly mis-matched, including the "trim" around the middle of the front bumper. Like Hoop said, you'd also need to get different tail lights. I've seen pics of a Black Magic given the Cobra GFX treatment (including spoiler, it was an 82) and I personally didn't care for the looks of it.

What was I thinking???No,I wasn't going to change the taillights and stuff, what I guess I was referring to was a Saleen type valence that covered the lower part of the bumper cover, under the belt-line.I mentioned '93 Cobra style because I had been to a site-Cervini's-I think, that had a valance which resembled the cobra style rear.I wasnt even thinking-duh!

not a big fan of the "bolt on" lowers, I have yet to see one that doesn't look like crap

I was thinking the same thing, I was pondering getting a damaged rear and having a pro do it right

If you get one that's plastic (factory or factory style) and not fiberglass (el cheapola that'll crack), it's not too hard to graft it onto the existing bumper and have it look good. All you have to do is take your time and be willing to sculpt flexible bumper filler/repair stuff. Mike's airdam is an "add on" type, but he made it one piece, and it looks fantastic. And I ain't just sayin' that cos he's my Croke, either.

I was going to suggest that, have someone who can lay fiberglass and have it look good, you could graft it on a stock bumper and it would probably look atright.
