View Full Version : The #s Ford HASN'T released - Please read before posting

I figured before we got too many questions about specific breakdowns that I should let you all know ahead of time that Ford has not released any verfiable numbers of cars broken down by trim level/body style/colour, etc.

For example, Ford tells us that in 1985, 15,110 convertibles were made. That's it. Don't know engines, trim levels, etc. There were 56,781 coupes and 84,623 hatches.

It's very frustrating to keep running into this over and over with them. Soon I will have pages dedicated to all the breakdowns I have, but you won't be able to find out how many of which colour with what motor and which body style were made, I'm afraid.

Ford has let out all the numbers for the first generation Mustangs, we wish they'd do the same for the Fox Mustangs and Capris.

thats not entirely true, anniversary cars have been broken down, and so have SVOs

Yes, this is true, and I have the numbers somewhere. But they're the exceptions to the rules, unfortunately.

The numbers are not far from coming out. Kevin Marti did all the number negotiation with ford for the 64 1/2-73 mustangs. I have been talking to him a little over the past 6 months. He is working on the specific breakdown of options on the 79-93 mustangs. It is a long arguous process. He has to jump through many hoops. I am just posting this to let you all know that there is someone out there doing something.

Can you break my car down exactly for me? I want to know how many cars were made EXACTLY the same as mine :wink:

Yeah.. I've even mailed Ford letters... they won't tell me. As has previous owners of my car.. I still have the letters and responses... Damn Ford!

Yeah Ford hates to divulge information... I called at the first of July for a 999 sheet. The lady said that I would have it in 5-7 days.. Here it is at the end of October.. Still waiting for it..
