Hey guys.. i have a 86LX that i am turning into a GT. I know i'll need the front cover, door moldings and GT emblems.. is there anything i'm missing? (Aside from the obvious suspension stuff)

Thanks,
Shawn Donkin

I don't know what is required, but i am sure someone here does and will get you the info you need. This is just my opinion, but if I had an LX i think i'd look into the aftermarket styling acessories rather than try to pass it off as something it isn't.

needed conversion parts:
paint hood
front cover
beltline trim pieces
scuff/paint window trim black (instead of chrome)
seats
dash inserts
door panels
Marchel foglamps & wiring

I'm sure I'll think of more

Well.. when i'm done with it.. it will be a GT (or better, haha!)

So a GT is the best route to go AFAIC

LOL, no, I was correcting the Hoopmeister, as he'd said you need to paint the trim black. The body colour is fine ;)

the hood has a decal
the door panels are the same, the bezels are different
the seats are different
and the front qtr panel trim says gt
steering wheel

yeah, but black looks so much better, also, the trim on my LX from the factory was charcoal, and I have the fuel door release button that is a GT only option

indeed, but I'd personally be happier with a painted hood. steering wheel, if its a non cruise car, then its just the center of the steering wheel that needs to be changed. Yea Skyedome, they are charcoal grey, but I've seen black, and it looks just as good

Wil, I have an 86 LX 5.0 Hatch, the window trim should have been "chrome", and per Ford literature, the fuel door button is a GT only option, to make things even more bezare, the drivers side had a GT moulding from the factory

will, I am sure that you could get it in a dealer package....Ford has had a few of them over the years.....
