Ok I have the stock bottom end 86 with the flat top pistons and no valve reliefs, not changing cams going to use stock cam until short block is done...
I honestly would have to look at the back of a cluster to make sure. I don't think the tach is any different on the 79 model, but also just be aware...
There shouldn't be any real issues with reattaching the bolts. You can mark their exact location with a Sharpie before removing to assure you get it...
